Beggs, Sr. Director Information Storage, The McGraw-Hill Companies
Joshua Begg's team is responsible for global storage engineering
and operations as well as backup engineering at The McGraw-Hill
Companies. The team's mission is to engineer and support information
storage solutions globally for McGraw-Hill, utilizing a capacity-on-demand
model where they've been able to drive down the cost of storage
while increasing their service levels to internal customers by providing
“just-in-time” storage, granular reporting by application,
and consistent cost liquidation. Prior to his current position Mr.
Beggs was a Client Solutions Manager for EMC, where he was responsible
for a technical sales account team serving 29 accounts in the NY/NJ
area, specifically in the telco, media, and entertainment vertical
markets. The team was responsible for architecting technical information
infrastructure solutions. He has also been a storage architect at
America Online, where he was part of a team responsible for designing
large storage solutions for extremely large, highly transactional
databases and large data warehouses; and a principal research analyst
at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where he conducted satellite
oceanography research for code 970, the oceans and ice branch. Mr.
Beggs received a BS in Geology / Computer Science and an MS Marine
Studies / Satellite Oceanography from the University of Delaware.
He is a CISSP.
