Rajiv
Gupta is the Founder and CEO of Securent Inc., a leader in enterprise
entitlement management. Prior to Securent he was the Founder and
CEO of Confluent Software Inc. Confluent was widely recognized as
having the industry’s best policy-based web-services management
product and was deployed at some of the largest Fortune 500 customers
including Merrill Lynch, Hartford Insurance, Citibank, AGEdwards,
and Cisco Systems. Confluent was acquired by Oblix in 2004, which
was acquired by Oracle in 2005. Confluent’s web-services management
product is now sold as the industry-leading CoreSV product from
Oracle.
Before
starting Confluent, Rajiv spent 11 years at Hewlett-Packard, most
recently as the General Manager of the E-speak Division (ESD). He
started the division in 1998 to bring to market the E-speak technology
that he and his team developed at HPLabs. E-speak is the open source
software from HP that takes the Web to its next logical step –
from an open platform for data to an open platform for e-services.
E-speak
is the precursor to the Web Service offerings from many major IT
companies, and has been inducted into the Smithsonian Institution's
National Museum of American History. The E-services vision and strategy
that Rajiv articulated and has evangelized since 1995 is the precursor
to the Web Service movement in the industry. Rajiv is widely recognized
as a pioneer of Web Services.
Rajiv
is the inventor or co-inventor of some of the seminal concepts that
underpin Web Services. He has more than 45 patents to his name in
processor, architecture, algorithm, and business model design. He
continually produces breakthrough ideas that have high business
impact. He has been profiled in a number of publications including
Forbes, cover story in the New York Times, cover story in the Silicon
India magazine, InformationWeek, newsletters of the Harvard Business
Press, etc.
Rajiv
earned his MS and PhD in Computer Science from the California Institute
of Technology (Caltech), and his BS in Computer Science from the
Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
