Lloyd Hession has been Chief Security Officer of BT Radianz
Inc., the world’s largest financial services extranet, since
shortly after it’s inception in 2000. Mr. Hession is responsible
for the security of a global critical infrastructure spanning 40
countries and connecting over 10000 of the world’s largest
financial firms with over 180 exchanges, market data and financial
information providers, all of whom rely on Radianz to route, execute
and settle trades totaling trillions of dollars per day. Formerly
Chief Architect of Internet Security at IBM, Mr. Hession built and
ran IBM’s Internet Security Services, which included managed
IDS and firewalls, emergency response and ethical hacking services.
Leaving IBM to become Managing Director of Security and Risk Management
Practices at Giga Information Group (now Forrester Research), Mr.
Hession built a highly successful consulting and research practice,
whose clients included leading security companies, major financial
institutions and federal and state agencies. Over a long career,
Mr. Hession has helped shape public policy on security strategy
and regulations. He has advised the Federal Reserve Board of Governors
on the security of internet banking and brokerage systems. He has
trained federal financial examiners and provided assistance to law
enforcement and other government agencies on technical matters.
Passionate and outspoken on national security policy, from cyber-crime
to nuclear terrorism, Mr. Hession’s insights have frequently
been featured in print media, radio and television. Whether it is
speaking at the United Nations Non-Proliferation Treaty conference,
or closed door sessions with financial services regulators, Mr.
Hession maintains an engaging and pragmatic approach to addressing
the security challenges of the 21st century.
