Computerworld
Maryfran Johnson is the editor-in-chief for Computerworld, the newspaper
for information technology (IT) Leaders, which has a national circulation
of 250,000 business and technology professionals. She joined Computerworld
in 1989, after working eight years as a reporter for daily newspapers
in Florida, The Gainesville Sun, Washington State, The Tri-City Herald,
and Ohio, The Cincinnati Enquirer. In her first position as a technology
reporter at Computerworld, she covered a variety of beats from midrange
systems and the Unix industry to client/server software. She was the
founding editor of Computerworld's Client/Server Journal in 1993,
and was promoted a year later to news editor. In February 1996, she
was appointed executive editor, a position responsible for all newsroom
operations and a staff of 65 people. In her role as a top editor with
Computerworld, she has served as an expert commentator for a variety
of radio, television and print news organizations. Johnson is also
frequently featured as a prominent keynote speaker at numerous industry
conferences. Johnson holds a master's degree in journalism from The
Ohio State University, and two bachelor's degrees - in French Literature
from the State University of New York at Albany, and in Journalism
from the University of Florida.
