Afzal Khan’s credentials include experience in IT
security, risk management, business continuity/recovery, policy
and procedure development, project management, consulting and systems
audits in the areas of IT security & operations, systems development,
change management, contingency planning, internal controls re-engineering,
process improvement, auditing within environments supported by distributed,
midrange and mainframe architectures. Industry exposure has included
banking, capital markets, insurance and governmental entities. As
the Director of Corporate Security at Everest, Mr. Khan’s
responsibilities include managing security administration of various
applications and platforms, developing and maintaining policies
and procedures, monitoring security events, ensuring regulatory
compliance for security and controls, and working closely with BCP/DR
team for effective risk management. He also leads corporate wide
security initiatives e.g. centralizing security functions, deploying
new/advanced security measures, streamlining and strengthening overall
risk management and security activities. Prior to Everest, Mr. Khan
was with Alliance Capital, and was responsible for managing development
and maintenance of policies and procedures, risk assessments of
systems and applications, security patch management, researching
security threats and vulnerabilities, monitoring security activities,
and strengthening the role of security throughout the company. He
also led security reviews, coordinated and prepared security briefings
and reports for executive management and the board of directors,
liaised audit activities, and actively participated in BCP/DR activities.
