Gary T. Murphy, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Dresdner
At Dresdner, Gary Murphy is the Chief Information Security Officer and he reports into the CIO, COO and global CISO, as required. Gary is responsible for the management of information security, operations and audits. In addition, he's responsible for: legal and regulatory risk, and is a liaison with legal and compliance; secure environment through compliance with principles set forth by information security; identification, implementation and management of internal, external and regulatory audit requirements; identification and management of legal and regulatory constraints; security awareness, incident response, forensics, policy, risk analysis, assessment and management; liaison with BCP/DR coordinators to ensure control consistency and testing; and works with firewall and networks teams globally with regard to policies, procedures, rules and findings.
Prior to Dresdner, Mr. Murphy worked at Citigroup as the Operations & Technology Records Management technical lead and Compliance Manager, including information security, audit, business continuity, disaster recovery and export licensing. While at Citigroup, he created strategic global plans to reduce the records retention risk. He improved the global records management program with compliance, legal & technology. He instituted improvements of data, records and information classification to reduce archival, he established procedures and processes to implement a global records management training and awareness program for all users, RMO's and legal counsel about retention risk and mitigation; he worked with the businesses and their RMO's to manage electronic and paper records to ensure compliance with the firms policies, U.S. and international regulations. At Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ, Gary worked as a Program Manager of Information Security, IT Assurance, Incident Response, and Disaster Recovery; at KPMG as Manager in risk management, information security, compliance, it assurance, privacy, business continuity & disaster recovery; at Prudential Financial as the global Distributed Network Security Manager of information security, risk management, data center, outsourcing, intrusion detection & business continuity; at Deloitte & Touche in information security, intrusion detection, business continuity & disaster recovery; and at U.S. Trust Company of Connecticut & NY - as the Senior Technical Liaison. Mr. Murphy attended Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY where he earned his B.S. in Business Administration - MIS and Marketing.
