Carter Schoenberg is the Senior Lead Analyst for the X-Force
Threat Analysis Service for Internet Security Systems,
Inc. (ISS), the trusted expert to global enterprises and world governments
providing products and services that protect against Internet threats.
Drawing from
more than 10 years of experience in law enforcement and information
security, and knowledge of civil liability as it relates to information
security, HIPAA, CJIS, SOX, and GLB, Mr. Schoenberg is responsible
for assessing the risk of the Internet by performing detailed analyses
of vulnerabilities, exploit code, virus/worms and latency. Additionally,
Mr. Schoenberg is charged with establishing the risk factor for
these associated threats to members of the federal government daily
and articulating these finding to the X-Force Threat Analysis Service.
His article, “Securing IT or Insecurity – A Blueprint
for Disaster,” a new standard in defining risk management
versus negligence for information security, was recently published
in Business to Business magazine (Dec. 03), Help Net Security (Feb.
04) and InfoSec Writers (Mar. 04).
Prior to joining
Internet Security Systems, Mr. Schoenberg was a homicide detective
for the Dekalb County Police Department. (Atlanta, Georgia). At
the time of joining the Major Felony Unit, Mr. Schoenberg was the
fastest promoted homicide detective in the department’s history.
He assumed additional responsibilities by working with the Federal
Bureau of Investigation in a joint effort against organized crime
while working in homicide.
Mr. Schoenberg
holds a Bachelor of Science from Georgia State University and is
pursuing his CISSP Certification.
