Scott Slater, Senior Wireless Engineer, The Bank of New York
As Senior Wireless Engineer / Assistant Treasurer in the Technology Services Systems Division of the Information Technology Sector of The Bank of New York, Scott Slater creates and supports technology recommendations for the Bank's wireless technology. His responsibilities in this position include developing a strategy for wireless technology, including wireless messaging, device selection, support, application integration (CRM/ERP), and implementation. He also works with the Bank's email groups in support of wireless messaging; recommends and supports wireless Ethernet (802.11x) devices; works with the Information Security and Telecommunications groups on defining and implementing an 802.11x infrastructure; develops technical & financial reports (cost benefits, ROI, TCO) supporting technology recommendations; and manages relationships with carriers, wireless vendors, middleware vendors. He is responsible for wireless planning and management of wireless procurement for the bank and all majority-owned subsidiaries. Formerly, Mr. Slater was a senior systems engineer at Level (3) Communications in the Technical Services Organization. Mr. Slater is a contributor to various IEEE working groups and is a member of ISOC. He attended Fordham University's College of Business Administration where he received BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Information and Communication Systems. Mr. Slater has received various specialized training from Nortel Networks, Juniper Networks, and Cisco Systems. Mr. Slater is a Technology Managers Forum Best Practice Awards Judge for the Technology Innovation category in 2006.
