Paul
Smith has 25 years experience building successful venture capital-backed
computer and networking companies and achieving excellent results
for customers, employees, and investors. Prior to joining PacketMotion,
Smith was Chairman and CEO of Tasman Networks where he refocused
the company, tripled revenues, and then guided the company through
its acquisition by Nortel in February 2006. Prior to Tasman, Smith
was VP & GM of the Telecom Division of New Focus where he grew
revenues from zero to a $100M annual run rate in three years and
helped to guide the company through its successful IPO and secondary
offering in 2000. Previously, he served as Sr. VP of Marketing and
Sales for Asante Technologies, a publicly held networking company.
He also held VP roles at Proxim and Virtual Microsystems and held
marketing and engineering roles at Adept Technology. Both Proxim
and Adept achieved successful IPOs, and Virtual was acquired. Smith
earned a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Alabama and
an MSEE from Purdue University, and he holds a patent in wireless
LAN protocols.
