Mr.
Weinman is Strategy and Emerging Services VP for AT&T Business
Services, the largest division of AT&T. Mr. Weinman helps assess,
create, and integrate strategic, emerging technologies and business
models, such as utility and grid computing, web services, advanced
optical networking, storage and information lifecycle management,
and intelligent networking, into AT&T's offer portfolio. A 24-year
veteran of AT&T Labs and AT&T, Mr. Weinman earned his Bachelor
of Science in Computer Science from Cornell University, his Master
of Science in Computer Science from UW-Madison, and completed Executive
Education at the International Institute for Management Development
in Lausanne, Switzerland. Mr. Weinman has been awarded 8 U.S. Patents
in areas such as line coding, simulation and workflow, consumer goods,
wireless technologies, and telecommunications, and has over thirty
pending in software technology, telecommunications consumer premises
equipment, network services, wireless devices, Internet browsers,
graphics compression, distributed storage networks, and Internet services.
Previously, he led engineering and operations for
AT&T's Business Continuity organization responsible for the
end-to-end process of ensuring IT continuity, reliability, availability
and performance for AT&T and its customers. This included analysis,
architecture, engineering, planning, implementation, operations,
and incident management. In addition, he has developed advanced
simulation tools and object management software to support risk
management, DR planning, process engineering, reliability and SLA
engineering, and financial analysis. He also was a leader of the
core team introducing AT&T's innovative Ultravailable Network
metro DWDM service.
Until 1996, Mr. Weinman was Leader of the Quality,
Process, and Business practice of AT&T Bell Laboratories, where
he led a team of over 100 consultants in business process reengineering,
quality, ISO 9000, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award,
software quality assurance, and project management. This team supported
AT&T’s unprecedented success in winning three Baldrige
awards and Japan’s Deming Prize. Prior to that he headed the
Global Sales efforts for AT&T Bell Labs consulting services.
Mr. Weinman has consulted, trained, and lectured
industry and government clients and audiences in the U.S., Western
Europe and Scandinavia, the Middle East, and the Far East. He has
conducted strategic planning, engineering economic analysis, software
development, systems engineering, operations planning, technology
strategy, integration planning, and process engineering and reengineering
consulting, training, and/or automation projects for domestic and
international paper, metals, postal, computer, retail, banking,
and telecommunications companies as well as postal, defense, and
communications agencies in the U.S. government.
